About Us
Next Level Pickleball is founded and operated by Catherine Lopez and Nadia Romero. In 2022, they met briefly playing in a mixed doubles tournament in Tustin, CA with their husbands but never connected after the tournament....three months later they both attended a Back to School night and found out their kids were in the same classes! The rest is history...
CAT LOPEZ
Catherine Lopez was born and raised in Australia where she worked in economics and naturopathy and herbal medicine before moving to the U.S.A. in (2012). She has been playing pickleball for 5 years and has achieved a DUPR of 5.0 through tournament wins. Cat previously worked as the Pickleball Coordinator for The Claremont Club (TCC) where she doubled the pickleball community and brought the California Pickleball Association (CAPA) to begin their tournament series at TCC facilities.
Catherine has four years of teaching experience and is certified by both IPTPA and PPR as an instructor. She has experience with private lessons, small groups, clinics, youth instruction, and has organized numerous corporate pickleball events. She is aiming at continuing to grow the pickleball community and her passion is teaching players how to improve their soft game (dinks, drops, and resets) through drills and repetition.
NADIA ROMERO
Nadia Romero is a native of Virginia but finished her High School and College in Hawaii where she was a pole vaulter for the University of Hawaii and high school coach. She has been playing pickleball for 5 years and has achieved a DUPR of 4.6; she discovered her first "racquet" sport during the COVID-era by playing with family. Nadia has experience in working with kids as a gymnastics camp instructor, she currently coaches a local high school track team and has been a PPR certified pickleball coach since 2024. She is still a competitive tournament player and she hopes to use her experience with youth sports to grow pickleball in schools and to use pickleball as a means to raise charitable money for good causes in our communities. Nadia's passion on the pickleball court is a relentless defense and consistency and aims to teach players how to turn the momentum in a match.
